Wendy has lived in rural Waiheke since early 1979. She grew up in an artistic family. She's spent approximately 8 years having tuition with Tony Clarke (TC Fine Art) Pakuranga, Auckland gaining skills and has a particular flair for portraits, birds and animals. In 2013, she was delighted to be announced winner of the K G Fraser Award at the Auckland Easter Show. The open art competition is the largest in New Zealand with up to 2000 entries on display in the pavilion at the ASB Showgrounds during the annual Easter Show event. Of the two pieces Wendy entered, it was her large airbrushed picture of an African girl titled "Oh Africa" that took first place.
